Have you done an internship at a gallery before? Are you ready for the next step?
We have Internships on a rolling basis, starting early May 2018. For the right candidate there is room for growth.

We are an international, contemporary art gallery located in Chelsea. Our program consists of national and international emerging and mid-career artists, who work within the abstract, conceptual genre. Each year we present rotating exhibitions in our gallery space, and participate in several international art fairs.

This is a terrific hands-on opportunity to learn about the nuts and bolts of running a gallery. The internship position looks at two broad areas of running a commercial art gallery :

First, the intern will assist in all aspects of gallery administration and operations when organizing a gallery show (event management), which involves

– database upkeep,
– website maintenance,
– social media
– light art handling

Second, we have a particular focus is on social media and PR. A flair and talent for writing is required for press releases, contacting journalists/writers, social media promotion, sending out invitations, preparing labels for artworks after install and opening night.

We are looking for someone who is detail oriented and well organized; a natural problem solver who is not afraid to ask questions, apply common sense, and lend a hand.

And who has a big smile and a sense of humor!

The ideal candidate possesses the following characteristics and skills:

– Reliable, friendly, curious and dedicated

– Detail oriented

– Administration guru

– Fluent in English, and has good writing and communication skills, including excellent phone manners

– Social media expert (instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc)

– Computer skills a MUST (Word, Excel, basic knowledge of Photoshop)

– Word press (we will otherwise train)

– Diverse administrative & research ability, or desire to learn

Hours of operation are Tues – Fri 10:30am – 6:30pm Vernissage Thursdays 10:30am – 8pm (for our openings, or if there are openings in the building) Sat 11am – 5pm

Minimum we require a three month commitment of at least 3 days a week, including every other Saturday. We offer a daily stipend to cover meals and metro card. Only serious candidates who are willing and able to dedicate 3 days a week for their internship period will be considered. Individuals with a business or arts management education are preferred.
